Vacations beCAUSE provides high value and distinctively unique consignment trips at a reasonable price that you can auction at your event. Whether you will be holding a raffle, live or silent auction, we can provide you with trips that will help you raise funds while also adding components of interest and excitement to your event. There is no risk, as you only pay for the trips that sell at your event.
No, Vacations beCAUSE is a small grassroots for profit business run exclusively by women. We value creating a positive impact on communities and society while making a living, and think this is a good way to realize that. Causes that we feel strongly about are anything that impacts women, children, animals, the elderly and the environment in a healthy way.
A minimum of a week before the event Vacations beCAUSE will provide you with a silent auction kit. The kit has posters with frames, bid sheets, lights (if needed), instructions, award certificates and a return label. We also like to provide the person in charge of the auction with a 15-20 min training over the phone on how to answer any questions from donors. If you’re running a live auction, we can provide you with marketing materials such as slides.
It really depends on several factors, such as the event itself, the non profit and the donors present at the event. We have seen trips create $15,000 donations, but the typical range is anywhere from $1,000-$5,000. You can start the bidding at $500 or $1,000 over the trip cost, it’s up to you. How well you know your supporters will help you in deciding what type of bid increments will work.
The best advice we can give you from our experience is to try to generate excitement a few weeks before your event by marketing the travel auction in your emails and social media outlets. By giving them a sneak peak of what Vacations beCAUSE or other auction companies will be providing, they will be "pre sold" on bidding. If you need marketing materials we can provide them for you.
Another opportunity for optimization of the silent auction, is good positioning within the venue. If you put it in a dark corner with no traffic, it is unlikely you will be successful at generating interest.
Last but not least, announcements are key on the night of the event, made by an MC, your benefit auctioneer or someone within your organization who well known by your donor base. It's important to create a sense of urgency like for any silent auction.
The process of how to book the trip is laid out in the paperwork they receive upon winning. It is very straightforward, all they have to do is email us their information and award certificate number and we create a traveler file for them. From that point on we will be available to help them book their trip whenever they are ready. We just ask they give us a minimum of 120 days booking window for international trips, and 90 days for domestic.
